The chart graphically demonstrates how these two types of viruses attack human cells, namely in the following sequence: recognition by receptors on the surface of the human cell, attachment to and binding with the cell surface, insertion of genetic material (DNA or RNA) and enzymes into the interior, takeover of the cell to produce copies, and the release of these copies (new viruses) from the cell.
