Working model of a water turbine that can be connected to a water source, featuring a front transparent panel that allows observation of its operation. The turbine is connected to a small generator that produces electricity, with the action (flow) visible through elements included in the set: a glowing bulb, an LED, and a Newton's color wheel rotating on an axle, along with other circuit components, including a two-range switch.
The water wheel visible through the panel is made of chromium-plated brass, and the turbine housing is cast from aluminum. The turbine is designed to be connected to a low-pressure water source; the set includes 25-millimeter discharge hoses and inlet tubes with an adapter for spouts with a larger bore.
All components of the set, together with the turbine, are mounted on a stable base, which greatly facilitates use and demonstration of the turbine’s operation. The turbine’s operation is visible through the front transparent wall, and the use of the generated electricity can be seen by connecting a small motor to the turbine; therefore the working turbine will light a bulb, illuminate an LED, or rotate the Newton wheel in order to observe the additive nature of colors. The mounted switch enables toggling between the bulb and the Newton wheel. The LED glows continuously during turbine operation, but it can be removed from its socket and replaced by another component (the sockets are 4-mm).
Thus, this is a very demonstrative and educational aid that not only demonstrates the operation of a water turbine but also showcases energy transformation and circuit construction.
