The leaf electroscope is designed for electrostatics experiments – for detecting and determining electric charge. A vertical metal rod has a metal leaf attached to its lower portion, and at the top it ends with a flat plate electrode isolated from the housing. The electroscope has side metal walls attached to the base and the top wall (both made of plastic). The front and rear walls are transparent (glass), and the front pane is sliding (upward), allowing entry of ionized materials into the interior of the electroscope. The angle of deflection of the metal leaf depends on the charge that has flowed from the rod connected to the plate electrode of the charged object, e.g., an ebony rod rubbed with a piece of fur. The angle can be read using a six-step angular scale located inside the electroscope. The electroscope allows the connection of a grounding lead. Dimensions: 110 x 95 x 50 mm.
