Large Deflection Electroscope with Vanes and Scale
Product reference: Fiz000750
Description
Large Deflection Electroscope with Vanes and Scale
This large (25 cm) deflection-type electroscope features a rigid metal pointer, is highly sensitive and easily observed during classroom demonstrations. The angle of deflection of the pointer depends on the charge that has flowed from the object charged electrically when brought near the rod with a spherical or plate-shaped end; for example, a rubbed ebonite rod with a piece of fur.
The electroscope is equipped with two electrodes — a flat, plate-shaped electrode (ending with a metal disc) and a spherical electrode (ending with a metal ball) — they can be used interchangeably. An additional component is the electrophorus.
The degree of deflection of the pointer can be read using a transparent angular scale with eight divisions.
The electroscope has metal side walls and a top, which are attached to a stable base. The front and rear walls are transparent (glass), and the front pane is retractable (slides upward), enabling insertion of ionized materials into the interior of the electroscope. This teaching aid is recommended for experiments in electrostatics, including topics such as induction and electrostatic interaction (Coulomb's law).
Dimensions of the teaching aid: 20 x 12 x 25 cm.
