Electrostatics Experiment Kit with Electroscope

The Electrostatics Experiment Kit with Electroscope enables performing and demonstrating a range of experiments in electrostatics. It includes, among other items: two aluminum containers, nylon fiber, cores, polyethylene and acrylic belts, a metal stand for insulating tapes, material for collecting static charges, a 50-mm electrophorus (an example of the simplest electrostatic device), a reference pad, and two polyethylene insulating plates. The kit features a leaf-type electroscope designed for electrostatics experiments—used for detecting and determining electrical charge.

The vertical metal rod carries a metal leaf at its lower end and is topped with a flat, plate-shaped electrode insulated from the housing. The electroscope has metal side walls fixed to the base and the upper wall (both made of plastic). The front and back panels are transparent (glass), and the front pane slides upward to allow access to the interior of the electroscope for introducing ionized materials. The deflection angle of the metal leaf depends on the charge that has flowed from the object charged by the rod with the plate electrode, for example a fur-rubbed ebonite rod. This angle can be read using a six-degree angular scale placed inside the electroscope. The electroscope allows attaching a grounding wire.
