Description
Block model of healthy human skin with burns
This 3D, colored anatomical model of human skin is shaped as a rectangular prism (a skin fragment including hair), presenting on one side the appearance and structure of healthy skin, and on the opposite side skin affected by burns of degrees I, II and III. This burn section is divided into three parts, so the same skin fragment with a first‑degree burn, a second‑degree burn and a third‑degree burn can be seen side by side as a comparison and gradation of burns. The overall dimensions are 33 x 23 x 24 cm (H).
The model supports discussion of the location and role of key skin elements such as:
- Keratinized layer (horny layer) — stratum corneum
- Lucid layer (stratum lucidum) — only when the keratinized layer is thick
- Granular layer (stratum granulosum)
- Spinous layer (stratum spinosum)
- Meissner's corpuscles
- Sebaceous gland
- Arrector pili muscles
- Hair shaft
- Epithelial root sheath of the hair
- Inner epithelial root sheath of the hair
- Hair shaft
- Pore
- Nerve
- Artery
- Vein
- Lymph vessel
- Krause's end bulbs
- Pacinian corpuscles
- Ruffini endings
- Subcutaneous adipose tissue
