Demonstration Magnetic Checkers for School Board

Magnetic checkers enable team play. This version of checkers fosters cooperative skills during group play and helps explain the rules of the game. For a teacher or facilitator, this is also a very convenient and handy aid, because the board, called a checkers board, is printed on full magnetic foil (not on sheets of magnetic foil backing). The checkers board can be placed on any magnetic surface (metal, classroom board, etc.). It consists of two parts (as in the foldable classic wooden form in a closed box). This has two advantages: the board is easy to store by rolling both halves along the shorter edge and it can be quickly and securely placed onto the board (adheres without issue). The pawns are cut from a special material, additionally engraved - so there is no risk of wear to the print over time. The pawns are backed with magnetic tape and adhere firmly to the board-checkerboard (made of full magnetic foil!). Board dimensions: 60 x 60 cm.

Helpful information:

What do we call the board on which we play checkers?

- It is a checkers board. There are two types of boards for checkers: used in international checkers - the board is divided into 100 squares, alternating dark and light, usually black and white; used in non-professional checkers - here the board has 64 squares. In both cases, all squares are the same size. In 64-square boards, coordinates are assigned to the squares on the checkers board - rows are numbered from 1 to 8, and columns from a to h. Thus, each square has a unique designation, e.g., f2 or h6.

What are the pieces used in the game of checkers called?

- They are pawns in light and dark colors, with 12 of each type in standard checkers (in international checkers 20+20). The game is started by the player - called a checkers player - playing the light pawns. During the game, pawns and kings can move on the board. A pawn becomes a king when crowned. Both the pawn and the king are pieces, also called men.
