It is used as a material for manufacturing artificial (plastic) jewelry, lamp shades, ventilation systems, and toys. It is also a component of toothbrush bristles, insulation films, some household appliance parts (e.g., TV casings) or packaging (e.g., CDs, medicines). Polystyrene also has wide applications in construction.
