Description
Zinc Sulfide Molecule Model for Educational Demonstrations
With this set you can assemble a zinc sulfide molecule model (ZnS), an inorganic compound, a salt of hydrogen sulfide with zinc in the +2 oxidation state. It is a white crystalline solid with an ionic structure. The zinc sulfide molecule model consists of 45 atoms (22 metal atoms and 23 sulfur atoms) and 66 connectors.
Set contents:
- Zn atoms, 22 pcs, diameter 23 mm
- S atoms, 23 pcs, diameter 23 mm
- connectors, 66 pcs, length 30 mm
Worth knowing...
Zinc sulfide – the most common and widespread is sphalerite (also called zinc blende). It forms isometric crystals (tetrahedra or rhombic dodecahedra), often with twinning and characteristic stripes on crystal faces. It occurs in dense, granular, powdery (– brunckit) aggregates, in kidney-shaped, encrusted and crust-like forms. Together with wurtzite it constitutes a polymorphic variety of zinc sulfide. It is brittle, transparent, and may contain impurities of iron, cadmium, manganese, tantalum, indium, lead, and silver.
