Description

Nylon Molecule Model

The set enables the construction of a nylon molecule. Nylon is the trade name of a product that is a synthetic polymer containing an amide group used, among other things, for producing synthetic fibers with very high tensile strength and easy to dye.

The kit includes:

  • carbon atoms C, 24 pieces, diameter 23 mm
  • oxygen atoms O, 4 pieces, diameter 23 mm
  • nitrogen atoms N, 4 pieces, diameter 23 mm
  • hydrogen atoms H, 47 pieces, diameter 15 m
  • connectors, 31 pieces

The model (6,6, 2 monomers) consists of 79 atoms and 31 connectors. It can be assembled and disassembled (according to the included instructions).

Note:

Nylon is used primarily in the production of knits, fabrics, lines and filaments as well as, due to its excellent mechanical properties, for bearing bushings, gears, etc.

In many cases you may encounter numeric designations after the word nylon (e.g., nylon-66). This information refers to the polymer's structure. The digits indicate the number of carbon atoms in the monomer. A single number (e.g., nylon-12) designates a fiber obtained from a lactam with 12 carbon atoms. For example, caprolactam yields nylon-6:
