Center of Gravity Determination Aid

The Center of Gravity Determination Aid enables the determination of the centers of gravity for flat objects. It consists of a stand, a weight on a string, and five different figure plates with holes for hanging. The plates include shapes such as a triangle, a trapezoid, an L-shaped figure, a parallelogram, and another shape. The plates can also be traced onto paper, and the results can be checked by an alternative method, for example a geometric approach.

How it works

The apparatus helps locate the center of gravity of flat objects by balancing them on the stand using the suspended weight and the holes in the plates to mark the balance point. The plates can be replicated on paper to verify results by another method, such as a geometric approach.
