Things to know...
Sucrose is the common table sugar obtained from sugar beets or sugarcane. It is a disaccharide (two-sugar) formed between α-D-glucose and β-D-fructose. Sucrose is also found in fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Interestingly, the largest amounts of sucrose in natural form are found in dried fruits, as well as legumes such as peas and beans, corn seeds, apricot fruits and in pineapple.
