PWN Multimedial School Polish Language Dictionary Version 2.0
(CD) The dictionary covers vocabulary from many fields close to everyday human experiences, such as medicine, economics or law, as well as expansive vocabulary that goes beyond the domains in which it is used, for example in information technology, sport or popular music.
The dictionary is based on a computer archive of texts of contemporary Polish with a size exceeding tens of millions of words. It blends the best traditions of lexicography with the achievements of modern linguistics. It presents a thorough description of meaning and usage, although the definitions are written in plain, natural Polish. It contains a detailed description not only of the meaning but also of the correct usage of words, and the examples are drawn from real texts.
The dictionary contains 100 000 lexical units and 150 000 examples of correct usage.
The dictionary includes 30 000 synonyms and antonyms, about 7 000 phraseological units and proverbs with explanations, as well as abbreviations, acronyms, derivatives from proper names (names of inhabitants and locational adjectives), and also prefixes and suffixes, information on word division, information on inflection of words, information on part of speech and their syntactic compatibility. Each described entry is defined with respect to the most important grammatical features.
