Thermal Conductivity Demonstration Set

The set comprises two insulated containers (styrofoam) with lids and an aluminum rod. One container is filled with hot water, the other with cold. Each container accepts2 thermometers (one with a scale from −30 to 110 °C, the other from −40 to +50 °C, mercury-free), along with the aluminum rod. The experiment involves observing and recording thermometer readings at equal time intervals (every few minutes). As a result of thermal convection, the temperature decreases in one beaker and increases in the other; the temperatures tend to equalize after about 30 minutes.
