Description
Sulfur Molecule Model
The set enables constructing the most common allotropes of sulfur: rhombic sulfur, monoclinic sulfur, and amorphous sulfur.
The model consists of 24 sulfur atoms and 24 connectors.
- 24 sulfur atoms (S), 24 pcs., diameter 50 mm
- connectors, 24 pcs
From these elements you can build various forms of sulfur, including three different S8 molecules.
The included instruction describes and shows in the photos the construction steps.
Rhombic sulfur is stable under normal conditions. Heating rhombic sulfur causes it to slowly transition to the monoclinic form. If liquid sulfur (above 260°C) is suddenly cooled by pouring it into cold water, you obtain the so-called plastic sulfur. Plastic sulfur is an amorphous form of sulfur, which has properties similar to rubber, therefore it is elastic and ductile.
