Product Description

The device is used to determine the transparency of water in ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, seas, and other natural bodies of water. The instrument consists of a 60-centimeter transparent tube with a black-and-white miniature Secchi disk mounted inside, providing a quick and easy method for measuring turbidity. It is fitted with a drain valve to empty the tube.

The clarity or turbidity of the water results from the amount of suspended substances (particles)—both organic and inorganic—and the presence of microorganisms. Therefore, the turbidity level is one of the parameters informing us about water quality (the amount of sediments and/or contaminants). Black-and-white Secchi disk with its contrasting colors ensures visibility and prevents the disk's color from blending with the water, increasing the confidence in the accuracy of the observation.
