Sun, Earth and Moon in Motion - Model IV (Tellurium)

Educational aid also known as a tellurium. The convenient and basic version of this model is battery-powered (2 x AA) and enables presenting phenomena that are difficult for students to understand in school, such as the rotational and orbital motion of the Earth, day and night, changes in daily illumination, seasons, eclipses, and the length of shadows. The Sun is represented in the model by a yellow sphere, from which light at the appropriate angle falls on the Earth represented by a globe tilted at the correct angle to the orbit. The Sun and the Earth are mounted on a stable arm, and on a separate boom is placed the Moon model, which can be positioned around the Earth. The model is moved using a geared system and can be moved or adjusted manually, powered by batteries (on/off switch) – it can therefore be moved freely, and it is made of plastic and metal. On the base there are information (labels in English) about the seasons on the northern and southern hemispheres and the designation of the 12 consecutive months; the same information in Polish is on the overlay colored disk. An additional element is a flat plastic human figure, which can be attached perpendicularly to the globe, for example with plasticine, to study changes in the length of the shadow cast by it as the lighting changes.
