The primary element of the set is the device for taking soil samples and soil profiles in the shape of a metal cylinder 35 cm long and an internal diameter of 16 mm, featuring a notch forming a groove 20 cm long. A convenient handle slides onto the instrument, which after sampling can be used as a plunger (see: photo next to it). Shallower soil samples can also be pushed out from the top of the groove from the outside. The instrument is made of stainless steel, and its end is beveled to facilitate easy insertion into the soil.
