Piston water pump model – Abyssinian

A simplified model of the classic Abyssinian pump, which is an example of the use of overpressure, piston operation and check valve. The pump works by moving with the help of a piston lever, located inside a transparent cylinder. The piston then creates an overpressure, lifts the metal ball in the valve socket and sucks the water placed in the oval container up the cylinder, then pouring it through the discharge tube. The model of the hand pump thanks to the transparent cylinder allows you to observe the operation of the piston in reciprocating motion, and is also an example of the use of a simple machine, which is a lever.

Abyssinian is also a model of a pump that is an excellent example useful during geography lessons in hydrology, solutions used to obtain water in different climatic zones, e.g. in desert conditions.
