The set is used to demonstrate and experiment with filtration, purification and water treatment. It simulates natural water filtration processes that take place in nature, where water seeps through successive layers of soil of different structure and structure (hence the sand and gravel set). It also allows to present the processes and stages of water purification used by man to drink water free of impurities.

The set contains a fold-out model in the shape of a transparent cut-out of soil layers consisting of 4 filtration levels deposited on a container collecting filtered water. Each of these levels has a profiled deeper space in the middle (with holes), into which filtering materials included in the set are poured: active carbon in the screwed-up container (90 g), sand (3 x 65 g), gravel (3 x 65 g).

The folded model in the shape is similar to a folding cuboid that tapers upwards with the top surface of the soil modeled. It is made of plastic. Additional elements are: 50 ml plastic measuring container, filter paper (A4) and safety glasses. Dimensions of the model itself (filter tower): 23 x 10 x 18.5 (H) cm.
