Healthy eating pyramid with dietary recommendations, magnetic

UPDATED, large and MAGNETIC version of the healthy eating pyramid enriched with a set of pictorial dietary recommendations and assessment icons. The whole teaching aid consists of 159 magnetic elements from which we build a healthy food pyramid - its successive levels and contents of these levels, as well as we discuss and evaluate food groups and ways of its preparation. The advantage of this form of the pyramid is the movable elements which make it possible to discuss and debate the topic of healthy eating while building it. The new version of the healthy eating and physical activity pyramid for schoolchildren, i.e. children and adolescents of school age, is presented with a series of recommendations for healthy eating. The new version was developed based on the recommendations of the Institute of Food and Nutrition in Warsaw announced in 2016 and the latest WHO (World Health Organization) recommendations.

Additional, enriching elements of the set are dietary recommendations (87 elements) for discussing the principles of healthy eating and related recommendations. Compared to the pyramid of healthy eating and physical activity, this set includes both foods and dishes which serve our health and physical condition and those which are harmful to us. To make the activities more interesting, the kit has been enriched with familiar smiley face icons (emoticons) and arrows labeled "more", "less" and "replace". Thus, next to the element representing "dark wholemeal bread", we can place a label with an arrow pointing upwards and the word "more"; accordingly, next to the element representing "light processed bread", we can place a label with an arrow pointing downwards and the word "less". If these two types of bread are placed next to each other, between them we can add a label with two arrows (one pointing down and the other up) with the word "replace" (here: exchange light bread for dark bread).

The whole teaching aid is designed to help explain healthy eating recommendations, both in school lessons and as part of educational campaigns linked to the promotion of healthy eating and nutrition. Its design and composition encourages both individual statements and collective discussions on food consumption.

The set contains 159 colourful elements, 100 per cent magnetic, because they are printed on full magnetic foil (and not glued with fragments of magnetic foil), for presentation on any magnetic surface (metal, school board, ...) principles and recommendations concerning proper and healthy nutrition.

The elements of the set can be freely arranged on the magnetic school board. The whole is clearly visible, the elements are large and clear. The dimensions of the sample food images: 10 x 14,3 cm (leeks), 9x4,7 cm (cucumbers), 8x8,5 cm (apples and apple juice).
Dimensions of the largest recommendation pieces (oval): 18.3 x 12.2 cm (2 pcs.); 14.5 x 12.5 cm (32 pcs.).
Diameter of emoticons and arrows: 4.8 cm (there are 50 of them).
Dimensions of the fully arranged pyramid: 102 x 82.5 cm.
